Discussion Boards

Here is a link to guidelines and a rubric I’ve used for discussion board assignments.

Videos

I tend to use videos for “key elements: I want students too understand. I typically don’t make them more than about 10-12 minutes long. I have made them on my iPhone. Here are some resources I hav found helpful

Instructor Presence

I try to be “present” in my course a minimum of 5 days per week. I do this through posting an announcement and/or engaging in the discussion board. Announcements are sometimes to point students to additional resources or comnent on something in the news. In discussions, I sometimes add my own answer the the prompt, ask probing questions to get a student dig deeper, or make connections between two student’s posts.
