Hot buttered rum
We had a few people over Saturday night. These were all the people from our church who were involved in or attended the Follies that evening. It was a pretty casual affair with coffee and dessert. The featured drink of the evening was a Hot Buttered Rum. See recipe below. This is a perfect cold-weather drink. My buddy Chadd said it was as relaxing as a massage.
Hot Buttered Rum
- 1/2 gallon good vanilla ice cream, softened
- 1 pound butter, softened
- 1 (1-pound) box powdered sugar
- 1 (1-pound) box dark brown sugar
- 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Place in a freezer-safe container and store in freezer until ready to use.
To serve, place ice cream scoop of frozen mix in a mug, add 1 ounce dark rum, and fill mug with boiling water. Top with additional fresh-grated nutmeg and serve with a cinnamon stick as a stirrer.
You can keep the mix all winter long!
